What a privilege it was to be a part of the annual Solutions Exchange event recently held in Johannesburg at Villa Arcadia.
This 2-day collaborative conference was hosted by the Harambee Youth Employment Accelerator, together with the Mapungubwe Institute for Strategic Reflection (MISTRA), the Presidential Youth Employment Intervention, and the Public / Private Growth Initiative (PPGI).
The Event
On 8 and 9 November, the Solutions Exchange hosted a gathering of like-minded national stakeholders from government, the private sector and civil society who are committed to creating economic opportunities for the youth of South Africa.
The theme for 2022 was “Partnering For Youth Economic Inclusion”, with a key focus being creating tangible solutions for youth unemployment in South Africa.
The event agenda was jam-packed with an impressive lineup of keynote addresses, panel discussions, action lab sessions, networking opportunities and more.
Notable speakers included Sim Tshabalala, Group and Chief Executive of Standard Bank, Buti Manamela, Deputy Minister of the Department of Higher Education and Learning, and Martin Kingston, Executive Chairman of Rothschild and Co SA.
The event spanned two full days of intensive, solutions-driven conferencing that included listening, learning and discussion. The delegates left inspired and equipped with information, tools and resources to help them continue making a difference in the lives of young people in South Africa through the creation of employment opportunities.
